The expected meeting of the Northern Ireland Assembly Executive didn't take place on Thursday last as once again Sinn Fein exercised its legal right to halt the scheduled meeting. The other three parties – the DUP, the Ulster Unionists, the Social Democrats and the SDLP met on an informal basis as efforts went on behind the scenes to bridge the DUP - Sinn Fein gap which has prevented executive meetings taking place for several months.
