A talk by Belfast's Lord Mayor and author Tom Hartley
Tom Hartley will be talking about his book ‘Written in Stone: The History of Belfast City Cemetery’. Tom is an acknowledged expert and organiser of the Belfast City Cemetery tour and his book tells the stories of the men and women who lie at rest there. Tom will discuss the architectural diversity of the various plots and tombs and will reveal personal details of those buried in the graveyard. This will be an interesting evening for anyone who is considering visiting the cemetery and for those who have an interest in Belfast.

Visit Belfast Central Library for a ‘Glimpse behind the Scenes’ tour.
The visit will start in the coffee shop followed by a guided tour of the building which will last approximately one hour. On the tour you will appreciate the range of fine and rare books. You will be introduced to the wide range of important reference and heritage materials, see some of the library's twenty miles of shelving, discover the history of the library and gain an insight into how the library runs on a daily basis. In addition to the tour there is also an opportunity to see two special exhibitions. ‘The Nature of Natural History’ which showcases some of the Natural History Collection and ‘The History of the Library’ which highlights library life over the past 120 years.
