Going Nowhere,-
Seeing that grey overcast day,-
And watching tose clouds moving in so swiftly,
As I can see and hear that rain they carry falling in,
Looking over at you and telling you to pack up your money,
And to put up your tent to stay here a while.
We ain't going nowhere,-
Gonna see a movie coming on called: "The Last Waltz"*,
Settling into those comfortable chairs where we flew down into,
Not gonna do a damned thing until the rain stops and that storm moves on,
It's one of those days where we couldn't keep on keeping on,
So we ain't going nowhere.
Gonna climb or cross that bridge,-
After it's gone and after we are way past it,
Hearing the rain pattering on the roof in that grey light,
As the wind decides to pick it's self up and hearing the windows creak.
Don't know why but sitting here with you watching "The Last Waltz",-
While the wind blows and those clouds so swift with the rain coming in,
Seems to be the only thing that needs to be done now,
So we'll sit and watch "The Band's" fare thee well and all their guests**,
'Cause it's that kind of a day and flying down to those comfortable chairs is the thing to do.
This is like intermission or and interlude,-
So we'll make the best of it while the rain is coming down,
And then maybe go shopping and buy some "different things",
After the storm has passed on by.
Or maybe just sit here and let the world move on by for a day,-
Who knows what we will do when "The Last Waltz" ends?,
But have thought of buying: A flute that toots, A dog that sings, and a gun that barks,
Just to say we went out and did something when the movie ended,
And managed to at least accomplish one thing.
But for now am perfectly happy,-
To be sitting here with you and knowing tomorrow is back to the same old thing,
Seeing where that day will take us when it all starts over again,
So I'll sit back with you and let it all pass on by for now,
Just as "The Band" does one of my favorites***.
